Chloe's Story
I’ve been training with Matt and the LPT team over 13 years. There have been times when I’ve taken a break for various reasons but I’m always welcomed back with open arms when I return. Nothing else gives me the encouragement, motivation and overall level of level of fitness that LPT does.
I love going to the studio, it gives me some time to focus on myself, keep fit and build amazing friendships.
After losing my husband in 2021, I returned to LPT after just two weeks. Some may say that was brave or stupid but it really was the best thing I could have ever done. It gave me a purpose in my day when I was very lost and low. I was doing something for my own health and well-being and the mental health benefits were exactly what I needed. It doesn’t matter what life throws at you, you do have a choice to do something to help yourself and LPT was my saviour.
It’s not always about giving 100% for me, it’s about turning up and doing my best. Some days I can only give 50% but I still go along and feel better for it.
I’m 47 now and I think I’m in good shape. I’m not perfect but I’m strong and healthy and I’m happy with that. Without LPT I would not have the motivation to achieve my fitness goals.
The support that the team offer is brilliant. I have built fabulous friendships with like minded people over the years and I can’t imagine not being part of the LPT family.
I’ve just completed yet another fantastic boxer-cise session with Matt, though I feel like my arms are going to fall off I feel energised. I always turn up on a Thursday with an excuse not to do the class but Matt persuades me to do it, reassuring me I’ll feel great after…and yes he’s right. This week I had a dizzy spell during the class, not detracting from the other participants and not thinking I was making another excuse Matt was quick to ensure I was OK and well enough to continue. I’m what the doctors describe as morbidly obese, not the most flattering label. But Matt never gives up on anyone, regardless of their ability. I love boxing but lack stamina, Matt focuses on the positives of my ability and reminds me to use my strength, but to maintain technique. He’s fantastic at keeping your motivational levels up. Technique is so important but it can become very laboured if you’re constantly slowed down or stopped to correct your technique, Matt has a great style allowing you to continue with the exercise but giving you small tips so your workout is continuous and fully beneficial. I’ve also had many PT sessions with Matt; I’m surprised I’m still around to tell the tale!!! Matt is an outstanding Personal Trainer, who never allows conversation, music, routine etc… to get in the way of maximising your workout with him. I particularly enjoyed the time when he kicked my ar** so hard that I lay on the floor, repeating that I was too fat and too tired to continue…and Mr Sutton decided to literally kick me and push me to continue, just what I needed and what I paid for. In my mid fifties my life took a significant turn, within the space of two years my wife and my 16 year old daughter were both diagnosed with cancer.
For a 3 year period I became fixated on protecting and supporting them in any way I could, completely ignoring my own physical and mental well-being, convincing myself that I was robust, resilient and immune to stress and it’s variety of consequences.
Thankfully my girls received successful treatment and are now both in long term remission….. at the end of this journey I found myself exhausted, lethargic, apathetic & immobile… I was surviving on a very poor quality diet and almost zero physical activity… I tried on several occasions to correct these bad habits, but, the truth of the matter was I needed help, from individuals who not only understood my challenge but provided empathetic support and sincere and genuine care.
Enter Matt Sutton and his amazing team at LPT…. I’ve spent 6 months under their guidance, I cannot do justice to the difference these people have made to my life… in respect of my physical fitness, my mobility, my self belief, my desire for life…. It’s so much more than a gym, it is a lifestyle transformation.., it does exactly what it says on the tin, I would encourage anyone who finds themself lost in the myriad world of advice and experts to make the first step and contact LPT, it’s not easy, but, once the journey begins it becomes infectious… what price can we truly place on our long term health and well being. Thank you Matt, thank you LPT… you are really making a difference to peoples lives, keep on caring.
